Guest Blog by Stefan Kazakis: As the CEO to every ‘Board of Directors 12’ program, one of the key questions that is asked of every member in every group is the following:
* Are you on the field kicking the ball or are you in the stands watching the game unfold?
If you wish to watch the match instead of getting involved in the game then your life and business will probably be a series of consistent yet idle replays. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing negative about being a spectator and, in life, many choose to settle for the comfort and security of the every day. But the more you seek opportunity, continue to take up challenges and embrace the risks of business, the more security you will eventually have in your business and your finances.
Risk takers and business owners who play the game need to have very clearly defined and transparent goals and, as a risk taker, whenever you feel fear or anxiety, you need to persist towards breakthrough by utilising the fuel of your drive to achieve these goals.
Start by creating a clear visual picture of the person or type of business that you would like to be and imagine your business performing the way you would like it to perform. There is nothing wrong with thoughts of fear as long as you balance these out with self-belief and courage. Then focus on the primary objectives of your goal and neglect any distractions that are not relevant to your goal.
Remember to be a risk taker in small business is to have courage and to have courage is to achieve a mindset by which fear is no longer an overriding emotion in setting big challenges and achieving demanding goals. Because knowing that you have the confidence to achieve goals rather than settle for day dreamed what ifs, is what will motivate you as a business owner and ensure the future prosperity of your business!
