Whether your range is one product or many, or you provide numerous services, virtually every business is in a position to obtain a review.
In recent months, we have been involved in sourcing reviews for both a service business and a product business.
If you can get someone in the media or an influencer to write the review and post it on their website and/or publish in their magazine or newsletter, this is the ideal situation.
This is not only preferable because the reviewer is writing it in their own words, thus making it more genuine and believable, it also means your brand is exposed to thousands more people who give up their time and money to read reviews from this reviewer.
To start your ‘review campaign’ draw up a list of media and bloggers whose audience would be interested in your products or services. Then prioritise them, taking into account their reach and level of engagement by the reader/follower.
Try and create a list of at least six people who can be personally contacted with a pitch to send them a product to review.
Work out what would be the best product or service to invite them to review. Each of the media may be attracted to different offerings, but many can be invited to review the same product/service.
I would add here that it’s advisable to offer different products/services to competing media.
When you contact them, make it clear whether you want the product returned or if they can keep it.

With our client Andatech, which designs, supplies, supports and services high quality alcohol and drug testing equipment, we decided to provide a mid-range personal breathalyser and approached tech and gadget consumer media along with food & wine media plus a number of other general lifestyle media.

When selecting your media and influencers, check to see what social media they have and how active they are. If they can also post on Facebook or Instagram, this will generate much more coverage and reach of the review.
Don’t forget to Like and Share all online reviews and posts and ask your network to do the same.
