An affordable way to improve indoor air quality in homes and offices.
Anyone concerned about keeping the air in their homes and offices healthy can use HEPA and UV air purifiers that trap and kill viruses and bacteria and can cost less than $300.
Irwandy Tan, director at Andatech, which is a leader in air quality products, said that using an air purifier can help to improve indoor air quality by trapping airborne pollutants and inactivating harmful microbes.
Ionmax air purifiers have five stages of air purification to ensure the cleanest and healthiest indoor air quality possible.
As air is taken into the unit, the first of three filters traps large airborne particles such as dust and pet dander; the second is a true HEPA filter that traps viruses, bacteria, pollen and mould; and the third is an activated carbon filter that neutralises smoke, harmful gases and volatile organic compounds to 99 per cent.
The next stage applies ultraviolet (UV) light (254nm) that kills and inactivates microbes such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and germs at a rate of 99 per cent. The final stage releases negative ions to freshen and balance the air before circulating back into the room.
“The key stage to obtaining the cleanest air possible is the HEPA filter that traps harmful airborne pollutants, and the UV light that inactivates microbes trapped on the filters, whether that’s at home or in more public offices,” said Tan.
“While an air purifier is not a fully protective measure against getting sick, improving indoor air quality is vital to maintain good health and immunity, especially when we are spending more time indoors.”
The highest standard of air purifiers use HEPA filters, which stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air, and designates that the filters are able to trap 99.97 per cent of particles that are 0.3 microns or larger.
The Ionmax air purifiers are portable and are suitable for areas up to 45 square metres so they are perfect for small offices, apartments, lounge/dining areas and bedrooms.
Ionmax air purifiers are priced from $299 and come with a one-year warranty. They are available from Andatech at andatechdistribution.com.au and selected stores such as JB Hi-Fi, Winning Appliances and Sleep Solutions.
NOTE TO EDITOR: Tests have not been conducted on the Ionmax products with coronavirus so it can’t be said that these air purifiers can kill COVID-19.
